The iPhone 14 Pro derives with a new Dynamic Island as a replacement of the notch, the primary camera gets a boost with a 48-megapixel, and an always-on display screen. Other enhancements like direct crash detection and satellite-based emergency SMS messaging are not even relavant to the Indian context at the time of introduction. It comes with either 128GB or 256GB or 512GB or 1TB internal storage.
The Deep Purple coloured option is quite new and as you can see, much has not changed in the way this phone looks like from its past two iterations. On the inside, you have the A16 Bionic SoC, which is exclusive to only the new iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max this year alone. Battery backup is sufficiently good, and general usage is extremely smooth. As for the innovations, the owners of iPhone devices on the iOS 16 will be able to enjoy the slightly expanded opportunities in the sphere of customisation and personalisation. The three cameras on the back in addition to the one on the front have been optimised for low light, there is Action Mode for video which outputs cropped and stabilised frames.

iPhone 14 Pro Price in India
Apple has hiked the rates in India while both these phones cost the same as the previous models in the US. All models come with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage; however, the iPad with a cellular connection has other options. The same iPhone 14 Pro costs Rs. 1,29,900 when bought with features of capacity 128gb, Rs 1,39,900 for 256gb, Rs 1,59,900 for 512gb and Rs 1,79,900 for 1 Tera byte capacity. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is pricier by Rs. 10,000 each and therefore, the corresponding models include the iPhone 14 Pro Max starting from Rs. 1,39,900, then Rs. 1,49,900, Rs. 1,69,900, and Rs. 1,89,900 respectively.
You still don’t get a charger, or a headset; they only provide Lightning cable and SIM eject pin. Apple expects you to spend extra on the 20W or even any USB Type-C adapter if you wish to use it on an older iPhone since it will not charge at the same speed as the new one.
Gold and Silver options are as it is also used to be while they have replaced Graphite with a new deeper hue known as Space Black. This launch has a branding colour of Deep Purple which I have here with me Apple has brought in mid cycle colour options for the past two generations meaning we could see something new in mid next year around March if it is going to be the tradition.
iPhone 14 Pro Design
Of course the great news is the Dynamic Island, which, as Apple says, was developed as a result of hardware and software integration, to make the best use of the rather large cutout for the camera. It also gives Apple something they can market themselves – while the owners of Android devices have been eager to attempt copying it , it’s clear that no other firm would even have dreamt of undertaking something of the sort before and they may not also achieve the same level of synergy. We will discuss this more in the future, shortly.
iPhone 14 Pro cameras
There is a major shift with this year’s Pro iPhones but once again this is something that has been seen in the Android camp for quite some time now. The primary camera sensor is increased from 12-megapixel to 48-megapixel though the pixels are grouped into four to function like one. This enhances the area of the pixel where more light will be gathered hence enhancing the standard at low shutters speeds. Here again in the style of Apple, the user does not have a choice; this is also a simply the way things are; this is how one takes photos. You can also only do this by turning on the ProRAW mode which again, isn’t for regular users and anyway, you will only get to shoot in 48-megapixels.
This also enables one to capture 12 Mp images, in what can be termed as having a 2X optical zoom, all by only touching a small part of the sensor area. This 2X zoom mode is somewhere in between of the regular shots that can be taken with the primary camera and the 3X zoom shots that can be made using the telephoto lens. For video, the possibility to grab frames with rather large safety heads and tails on all bounded dimensions opens up a whole new level of video stabilization, which theoretically may be likened to using a gimbal to compensate for shaky hand movements, banging, and staggered motion. Cinematic Mode is back, but Action Mode, for some reason, is a toggle rather than a mode you choose from the carousel , and it’s also not always clear when it’s on.
Final Verdict
iPhone 14 Pro is a generally a step up from its predecessor, one can sense some changes that makes the phone more improved. In the US there was no increase in price and also we could understand that clearly. Alas, we are not that lucky in India. Indeed, what used to be a luxury is even more unaffordable now. This is unquestionably the best iPhone for features, camera and, most importantly, performance but for many people it is way above what they are willing to pay. A lot of Android smartphones today, and even some models of older iPhones, have all the features that the majority of users need to have, at a significantly lower cost. Although, perhaps, not with such a glossy finish.
